Atrazine is used on corn, sugarcane, and sorghum to control broadleaf and grass weeds, protect yields, and improve field management.
The mechanism of action of Atrazine
Awiner Herbicide Atrazine inhibits the production of ATP and NADPH by blocking the transfer of electrons from water to photosynthetic receptors. It also causes the accumulation of reactive oxygen species, which damages cell membranes, leading to yellowing and necrosis of leaves, thereby inhibiting weed growth and ultimately causing the weeds to die.
Control weeds
Atrazine is mainly used on crops such as corn, sugarcane, and sorghum. It can effectively control annual and some perennial broadleaf weeds, such as ragweed, amaranth, and morning glory, as well as grass weeds such as foxtail and barnyard grass. However, it has limited effect on perennial weeds with well-developed root systems and usually needs to be used in combination with other field management measures.
